SANTIAGO, CHILE (August 18, 2014) – SecureAlert (SCRA: OTC-US), a global tracking and electronic monitoring services company, announced that SecureAlert Chile was awarded the bid for technical monitoring telematics for prisoners in Gendarmerie. Jose Antonio Gomez, the Minister of Justice, and Juan Jaime Letelier, the National Director of Gendarmerie Chile, issued the original announcement privately earlier today.

Guy Dubois, Chairman of SecureAlert, and Minster Gomez recently met to discuss the challenges and future opportunities of remote monitoring systems in regards to the prison.

“Chile is a country that is proactive in implementing new technologies, because they have strong leadership in its authorities, and prestige in their correctional services and police,” said Dubois. “They value the importance of proven solutions in the world that relate to the control of alternative sanctions, which minimizes the risk in their population.”

Dubois also met with the General Director of Gendarmerie, Juan Jaime Letelier, who also confirmed that the Chilean subsidiary, SecureAlert Chile, is the technical provider that will control partial confinement sentences in the country.

All parties agreed to maintain an open channel of communication in order to assure a successful implementation of this project.
